1. Art Gallery
The Wentworth Art Gallery is a public museum located at The University of Sydney’s St. Hilda’s College (University of Sydney) campus. Opened in 1883, its collection includes Australian Aboriginal art, Japanese prints, European paintings and sculpture, Chinese ceramics, ancient Greek and Roman artwork, African art, Oceanic art, contemporary art and photography, prints, drawings and watercolours.
2. Museum
The Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences, is located in Sydney, Australia. The museum was founded in 1922, making it older than many famous institutions such as the Louvre Museum in France. Its mission statement is to explore, preserve and present objects, artifacts, artefacts, cultural heritage and history that have shaped the application of human creativity throughout history.
3. Architecture
St. Hilda’s building was designed by architect Sir Roy Grounds and built in 1883. Ground’s building is considered not only one of Australia’s finest examples of Victorian architecture, but also one of the finest buildings in Australia.
4. Gallery
The Wentworth Gallery houses over 2,000 works which make up a diverse range of collections including Asian painting; American art; Australian indigenous art; British art; Celtic art; Chinese art; European art; Islamic art; Japanese art; and Modern and Contemporary art. The galleries permanent collection consists of more than 3,500 items, with nearly 700 works changing exhibitions every year.
5. Library
A number of notable people lived in St. Hilda’s college at some point in their lives, including writers Joseph Conrad, Henry Lawson and Randolph Bedford. St. Hilda’s library contains over 80,000 books, magazines and journals which date back to the 17th century. Wentworth Art Gallery
6. Lectures Hall
Lectures Hall hosts lectures and seminars by prominent authors and scholars such as James Joyce, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mahatma Gandhi. In addition to the lecture hall, the building also houses the university’s debating society.
7. Theatre
The theatre is home to The University of Sydney Drama Society, as well as various theatrical performances and recitals. The theatre is used primarily for student productions, however it is open to visitors. The stage has seating for approximately 200 people. Wentworth Art Gallery
